For winter 2018 Saben explores the 17th century concept of Vanitas. The collection expertly pairs Saben’s modern sensibility and luxurious quality with the opulence, symbolism and palette of the late renaissance period. A showcase of the importance of studying the past to better anticipate the future in a story that merges fashion with art.

Lady like accessories are emboldened through colouration and embellishment with a focus on the feminine. A collection peppered with parallels; a string of pearls is translated into silver ball chain to frame the new shape, Maebelle, and a string of broken pearls in the stud work of Fifi. Inspired by the concept of chiaroscuro, the croc emboss texture goes macro a play on light and shadow. The colour pallet itself boasts highlights of mustard juxtaposed with moodier tones navy and black, which have been paired with velvet-like suede. The pomegranate, velvet and floral compositions of Vanitas still life are translated in season favourite Bordeaux.
This season’s beautifully-curated range of accessories also includes the introduction of a number of new silhouettes: Watts, Lou, Juno, Rollo and Luna. The newest shapes are inspired by the women who will wear them and embody the Saben design principals with an emphasis on simple silhouettes, luxurious textures and refined finishing.
Opulent and refined, Vanitas is a tribute to the masters.
